Figure C shows the classic findings of osteitis pubis including bony erosion and irregularity with early widening of the pubic symphysis.

Osteitis pubis is caused by excessive physical strain on the pubic bone, and is most common in young football players. The symptoms of osteitis pubis can include loss of flexibility in the groin region, a dull aching pain in the groin, or in more severe cases a sharp stabbing pain when running, kicking, or changing directions. Treatment for this condition is most commonly conservative with NSAIDs, physical therapy, and rest from sports. Steroid injections into the pubic symphysis are controversial.

Incorrect answers:
Figure A shows pubic symphisis diastasis with no underlying bony abnormalities.
Figure B shows a compression-type femoral neck stress fracture on the right.
Figure D shows a pelvic osteochondroma.
Figure E shows a stress fracture of the left inferior pubic ramus.
