Biography

Dr. Higuera is currently a staff surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic Adult Reconstruction Center, where he divides his time between research and patient care. He is also the Vice Chair for Quality and Patient Safety at the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute. He completed residency at the Cleveland Clinic and a clinical fellowship at the Rothman Institute, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He also completed a postdoc fellowship in Biomechanics at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Higuera specializes in hip and knee arthroplasty surgery. He is interested in complex revision procedures including infections. His research interest is mainly in periprosthetic joint infections, patient optimization and overall outcomes after arthroplasty. He is certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has been in the list of America’s Top Orthopaedists since 2015.
