Biography

Dr. Souder graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX with a BBA in Accounting. He attended medical school at Texas Tech University School of Medicine where he was awarded the Gold Headed Cane Award which recognizes the student physician who most symbolizes the pursuit of the highest standards of scientific excellence and integrity. Next, he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Scott & White Memorial Hospital/Texas A&M University in Temple, TX. He then pursued specialized training in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery with a fellowship at the world-renowned Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. Here, he furthered his knowledge and skill in pediatric and adolescent trauma and fracture care, as well as deformity surgery. After fellowship, he has continued his education by pursuing advanced training in Limb Lengthening and Deformity. He began his practice at Baylor Scott & White where he was Division head of pediatric orthopaedic surgery and liaison for pediatric orthopaedic trauma. He then moved on to join Central Texas Pediatric Orthopaedics in Austin, Texas. Here, he served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery & Perioperative Care with The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School and was active in resident education and research. He also served as the orthopaedic trauma liaison for Dell Children's Medical Center, the Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. He has now joined the team at Rady Children's Hospital -- San Diego, focusing on pediatric orthopaedic trauma and limb deformity and limb reconstructive surgeries.
