Originally from San Diego, CA, Dr. Stephan received his undergraduate degree at San Diego State University in Biology, with an emphasis in Biochemistry, as well as a minor in History. He then attended a post-baccalaureate program at the University of Pennsylvania, while also working full time in the cardiovascular laboratory of Dr. Muredach Reilly. Following completion of this degree, Dr. Stephan worked full time in the laboratory of renowned scientist Dr. Jeffrey Bluestone, at the University of California, San Francisco. He then received his MD from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Stephan is currently a PGY5 Orthopaedics Resident at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA and will be continuing to a Spine Surgery fellowship at Columbia University in New York City in August 2022. Dr. Stephan has a true passion for spine surgery - both adults and pediatrics. He has numerous publications in prestigious journals and has presented his research on the national level, including winning multiple awards. He looks forward to a long career in spine surgery, focusing on all aspects from degenerative conditions to scoliosis and trauma.
