Biography

Dr. Partan is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and shoulder surgery as an assistant professor at UConn Health. Before becoming a surgeon, Dr. Partan began his career as a physician assistant specializing in orthopedic surgery, where he gained extensive experience in both sports medicine and shoulder arthroplasty. Dr. Partan went on to earn his medical degree from LECOM, graduating in the top 5% of his class. He then went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Northwell Health on Long Island, NY, where he distinguished himself as a leader among his peers. During his training, he was honored twice as the Resident of the Year and was elected Chief Resident—a testament to his leadership, surgical/technical expertise, and strong commitment to patient outcomes. Following residency, Dr. Partan pursued a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder arthroscopy at the prestigious Musculoskeletal Institute at UConn Health. During his fellowship, he worked closely with Dr. Robert Arciero, an esteemed sports surgeon renowned for his contributions to the field of sports medicine and shoulder surgery. He joined UConn Health in the fall of 2024 where he practices sports medicine.
