He undergoes operative fixation without any complications as shown in Figure C. Three years later, he continues to endorse knee pain with post-traumatic arthritic changes on radiographic evaluation. He is indicated to undergo hardware removal and total knee arthroplasty. He is counseled on the risks, benefits, and alternative treatments. It is discussed that most patients undergo total knee arthroplasty for primary osteoarthritis, however, his indication is for post-traumatic arthritis with prior tibial plateau fixation.
