Biography

Dr. Banffy is a team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams. He is an orthopaedic consultant to the Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Lakers. Dr. Banffy has also been a consultant for a variety of other professional athletics including USA Beach Volleyball, the PGA tour, and the X Games. Dr. Banffy began his studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology before attending medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, which included training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Banffy went on to train at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, a founding partner of the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute, as a Sports Medicine Fellow in 2011. He is a certified member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with a Certificate of Additional Qualification in Sports Medicine. Dr. Banffy is an active researcher and has published several scientific papers in sports medicine as well as several book chapters. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Research Committee involved in the selection of research grants provided by the society. He is a reviewer for several orthopaedic scientific journals. Dr. Banffy is also active as Assistant Clinical Director of the Kerlan-Jobe Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Banffy is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, International Society for Hip Arthroscopy, Arthroscopy Association of North America, the International Cartilage Repair Society, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
