Dr. Craig Forsthoefel is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute. He trained at the University of Illinois for an orthopedic surgery residency and at Johns Hopkins for an orthopedic spine surgery fellowship. Before college, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 2005 to 2009 and deployed twice overseas as an infantryman. Upon honorable discharge from the military, he attended Colorado State University where he double-majored in chemistry and biomedical sciences. He then attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He received a Medical Doctorate (MD) with honors in 2017 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. During his education and medical training, he has participated in multiple research projects which lead to publication in peer-reviewed journals. In his spare time, he enjoys weightlifting, running, and spending time with his wife and dog.
