Biography

Dr. William Krywicki attended Coughlin High School where he selected to the football All-Scholastic team as guard in 1966 & 1967. He received the Carmen Palino Award for outstanding lineman in 1967, was city champ wrestler at 160 lbs in 1967 and qualified for the Pennsylvania State Golf Tournament in 1968. After graduation, he attended Lafayette College in Easton (1968-1972) where he played football and received his degree in engineering. His goal being medical school, he entered Thomas Jefferson Medical University in 1973 and completed studies in 1977. During this time, he made the decision to pursue orthopedic surgery. His sports medicine interest was stimulated by time spent with Dr. Vincent DeStafano, orthopedic surgeon for the Philadelphia Eagles. Residency in orthopedic surgery followed medical school (1977-1982) at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was team physician for Bloomsburg University (1982-1983) with a Dr. Jack Hughston, a founding father of Sports Medicine. This included an association with Auburn University. Returning to Wilkes-Barre in 1983 as an orthopedic surgeon in the Geisinger Health System, he has worked to improve injury care and prevention at all levels of athletic participation. He has been Medical Director for the Keystone Games, returning to Coughlin High School a team physician. He developed and coordinates a Trainers program for high schools in the area, Wilkes University and College Misericordia. He is team physician for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the arena football Pioneers, crediting these accomplishments to the dedication of his staff and partners. He has been supported by his wonderful family, wife Nancie and children Jason, Jillian and Jamie.
