Biography

Anthony T. Sorkin, MD, is an assistant professor of clinical orthopaedic surgery for the Indiana University School of Medicine. Sorkin is a member of the trauma team at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America from 2009 to 2013. Originally from Crofton, Maryland, Sorkin earned his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Miami in 1989. He continued his studies at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, obtaining a medical degree in 1993. Following graduation, he continued his medical training with a surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of Maryland Medical System. In 1999, Dr. Sorkin completed two advanced training programs, or fellowships, in orthopaedic traumatology: the first at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and the second at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Now, Sorkin’s practice is focused on orthopaedic trauma, including pelvis and limb reconstruction. He is active in continuing medical education and has spoken at numerous national and international meetings. Before joining the IU School of Medicine faculty, Sorkin was a clinical assistant professor with Rusk University Hospital Department of Orthopedic Surgery and served as site director for the Rusk Orthopedic Residency Program in Rockford. Sorkin was also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford. He previously served as director of the Orthopaedic Traumatology in his previous position.
