Lower extremity arthroplasty with an emphasis on complex knee reconstruction is the focus of my practice. Research in the area of hip and knee arthroplasty is conducted on an ongoing basis. Areas of focus include outcome studies and evaluation of new technologies. Additionally, I am actively involved in research in the field of technical skills development and feedback mechanisms. There is extensive collaboration with Kinesiologists and the University of Toronto Surgical Skills Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital. Our goal is to apply the principles of Kinesiology to the learning and development of surgical technical skills. Our efforts are directed at defining which motor skills differentiate experts and novices and discovering how modern feedback technologies could accelerate the learning curve, both in the laboratory and operating room environments.
