Biography

Dr. Cushner's practice is dedicated to the treatment of knee disorders. He has a special interest in cartilage injuries of the knee and actively performs a variety of cartilage resurfacing techniques. When Total Knee Arthroplasty is required, modern, state of the art techniques are utilized including Gender Specific, High Flexion, and Minimally Invasive designs. Dr. Cushner is a recognized expert in the area of bloodless surgery. He is an active member in numerous Orthopaedic organizations including the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons, The Knee Society, and the Association of Professional Team Physicians. Dr. Cushner served as a team physician with the New York Knicks, XFL Hitmen as well as arena football City Hawks. Dr. Cushner was recently named Chairman of the Division of Orthopaedics at Southside Hospital in Bayshore. Dr. Cushner sees and operates on patients both in New York City and in Long Island. Dr Cushner has done extensive research in the area of Bloodless surgery and is a pioneer in the field. He is also active in the area of partial knee Arthroplasty having been a founding member of the Society of Unicompartmental research and Education as well as having authored a text in the area of partial knee replacements.
