Edward Cahill, M.D., grew up in the Bay Area yet enjoyed family gatherings in Stockton over the Thanksgiving and Easter holidays. His educational journey took him to Stanford for his BS and MS degrees in 1974 and 1975, and then to USC for his MD in 1979. Subsequently, when he finished his orthopaedic residency in 1984 at Los Angeles County USC, he was pleased to come to Stockton, which was and still is in need of orthopaedic specialists. He continues to desire to provide the highest quality orthopaedic care to his patients. His general orthopaedic practice has concentrated over the years towards sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and knee and hip osteoarthritis. He has volunteered as team physician for thirteen years for Edison High School, twelve years for Lincoln High School and thirty years for University of the Pacific where he continues to provide care for young athletes. He has maintained his orthopaedic surgical board certification. He has served on the Board of Directors of the California Orthopaedic Association for eleven years. He has also served as Orthopaedic Subsection Chairman at Dameron Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital, as well as Chief of the Surgery Department and Chief of Staff at Dameron Hospital. He has also tried to help the community by serving ten years as a trustee for San Joaquin County Historical Society and six years as a trustee for Catholic Charities. His personal life has been focused on his wife, Carol Cahill, M.D., and their four children, three of whom are physicians. The family has enjoyed Stockton’s proximity to the ocean and the Sierra Nevada for hiking and skiing. The open countryside of San Joaquin County has been an excellent avenue for bicycling, which he often recommends to some of his patients as a low impact aerobic activity.
