Biography

James Chappuis, MD, FACS, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon. He is the founder and CEO of Spine Center Atlanta & Affiliates, which serves patients at offices in Atlanta, Savannah, Conyers, Augusta, Macon, and Decatur, Georgia. Dr. James Chappuis earned both his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude and his medical degree from the University of Toledo. He interned at Mercy Hospital in Toledo, and completed a residency in surgery and a residency in orthopedic surgery in Memphis, Tennessee at the University of Tennesee Campbell Clinic. He successfully completed an AO spine fellowship in Karlsbad, Germany. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and licensed in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee, Dr. James Chappuis has a longstanding belief in combining complementary and holistic approaches to patient care. Dr. Chappuis is a renowned spinal care specialist. His work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Orthopaedic Research, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Asian Spine Journal, Spine, The Spine Journal, Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques, The Physician and Sports Medicine, Rehab Management, and others. He has been featured many times in Becker’s Spine Review, a leading resource on issues relating to orthopedic and spine practices. Dr. Chappuis’ expertise has been featured on both radio and television programs. His YouTube videos have tens of thousands of views, and his video explaining failed spine surgery and failed pedicle screws has been viewed more than 75,000 times. James Chappuis is a faculty member at the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience at Georgia Tech University and a clinical instructor at Georgia Regents University. Has served on the Editorial Boards of the SF Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Clinical Surgery Journal, and on the Alumni Executive Board of the Willis C. Campbell Foundation. Dr. Chappuis holds multiple patents for medical devices. He serves as a consultant for Vertera Spine Inc and Paradigm Spine, LLC. Proud owner and founder of the Westside Cultural Arts Center in Atlanta, Dr. James Chappuis is an avid supporter of the arts. He also enjoys gardening, travel, and athletics.
