Biography

Ronna S. Parsa, DO is a fellowship-trained, board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine at her surgical practice, Parsa Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Institute, in Manhattan Beach, California. She trained under the world-renowned sports surgeon and mentor, Dr. James Andrews, who taught her the importance of teamwork, leadership and communication when treating patients. His support and encouragement throughout her career has inspired her to continue to pay it forward by helping teach and support the next generation of surgeons. She has been a lifelong athlete and bases her treatment philosophy on her many personal experiences around the world, as both an athlete and a medical volunteer. As an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, she has worked with athletes of all levels and ages, from weekend warriors to professional competitors. She has had the opportunity to treat elite athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, AVP and NCAA. Through these experiences she has learned that no matter how devastating an injury can be, the care and dedication of a physician can make all the difference. Dr. Parsa values education and research, staying on top of both through her international presentations and lectures. She has also published numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, and she has traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to further her experience in breakthrough progenitor cell research with Dr. Khay-Yong Saw at Kuala Lumpur Sports Medicine Centre. Graduating with honors from Western University of Health Sciences with her medical degree, Dr. Parsa also achieved the highest honors in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She later completed her internship and residency in orthopedic surgery in Chicago, IL. Dr. Parsa is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Medical Association and the Phi Beta Kappa national honors society. She values and cares for her patients with the same respect as she would any member of her family. She knows the importance of trust and confidence a patient must have in their physician to be able reach the best results. She works with her patients as a team to optimize their health and to ensure the greatest possible outcome. At Parsa Orthopedics in Manhattan Beach and Southern California,, Dr. Parsa offers cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment options, including minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, cartilage preservation, progenitor cell therapy, and platelet-rich therapies.
