Dr. Brett Shore attended Princeton University for his undergraduate education. He moved to New York City for medical school at Columbia University and then continued farther north to Boston for residency training in orthopedic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. Following his residency training, Dr. Shore moved to Alabama to study sports medicine with Dr. James Andrews at the American Sports Medicine Institute. He now lives in California with his wife (who is an anesthesiologist), oldest daughter, and rescue dogs. Dr. Shore chose orthopedic surgery because he wanted to take care of people at all stages of life and because he enjoys fixing and reconstructing rather than removing. His practice includes general orthopedics, and he is also trained in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee. Hip arthroscopy and the management of young people with hip disorders are interests of his. Dr. Shore appreciates the importance of balance in his life, and although he very much enjoys his job, it’s only part of who he is. He enjoys running, rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, and golf, and these activities help him maintain balance and, he believes, make him a more effective physician and surgeon.
