Dr. Michael Flippin was born in Texas and grew up in San Diego. He first became interested in medicine when he was in college. He believes he was drawn to orthopedic surgery by the care he received with his own personal injuries and surgeries. He spent five years in Washington, DC, for his residency training at Howard University, and he was able to return to San Diego for a spine fellowship. He loves Southern California, and was happy to have the opportunity to stay in San Diego to practice medicine.
