Biography

Peter Surace, MD is an orthopaedic surgeon in the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic and an associate professor of Orthopaedic Surgery for the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Dr. Surace specializes in hip and knee surgery. Specifically around the knee, he performs partial and total knee replacement as well as complex and revision arthroplasty. Similarly, he performs both posterior and anterior-based hip replacement surgery, as well as complex and revision hip arthroplasty. He also uses robotic-assisted techniques for both hip and knee surgery. Dr. Surace is a Northeast Ohio native, having grown up in Broadview Heights. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Denison University and went on to graduate medical school from Case Western Reserve University with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed residency locally at the Cleveland Clinic, where he served on the residency admissions committee, program evaluation committee, and was selected as the AAOS residency delegate for the program. He also participated in multiple research projects in residency, and received the award for best graduating resident research publication. He then went on to do his fellowship in adult reconstruction/complex total joints at Duke University, where we was awarded the department-wide Keivan Abtahi Duke Orthopaedic Surgery Fellow of the Year Distinction. Dr. Surace continues to be active academically, contributing to the residency education and participating in ongoing research efforts. He is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) as well as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He is excited to be serving his hometown community.
