Biography

Dr. Cronin is board eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and received his fellowship training in Shoulder and Elbow surgery at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University. He specializes in the comprehensive treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions, including arthritis, sports injuries, rotator cuff disease, instability, and fractures. He utilizes both operative and non-operative techniques to restore patients to top-level performance in sports, work, and everyday life activities. Dr. Cronin has a particular interest and specialized training in complex shoulder disorders, including massive rotator cuff tears, shoulder deformity, and failed previous surgery. Dr. Cronin was raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He then received both a master’s and medical degree from the University of South Florida right here in Tampa. Dr. Cronin completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where he trained at one of the busiest Level-I trauma centers in the southeast. During his residency, Dr. Cronin received numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Junior Resident Award and Outstanding Chief Resident Award. After residency, Dr. Cronin received one year of specialized training from many of the world’s experts in shoulder & elbow surgery at the prestigious Rothman Orthopaedic Institute / Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia. Dr. Cronin is an avid researcher and educator. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in multiple orthopedic journals, including the Journal of Shoulder & Elbow Surgery. His research has led to multiple local and national awards, including the Southern Orthopaedic Association Resident Research Award and the American Orthopaedic Association’s Top Poster Award in 2021. He has been an invited speaker at local and national meetings and has authored numerous chapters in orthopedic surgery textbooks on shoulder and elbow conditions. Dr. Cronin is an active member of the American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Outside of the office, Dr. Cronin spends time with his wife and young daughter. He also enjoys playing golf and is an avid fan of all things Florida Gators.
