Biography

A native of Moraga, California, Dr. Roth completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed a general surgery internship at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital and the orthopedic surgery residency program at Harvard Medical School. Following his residency, Dr. Roth received advanced fellowship training in sports medicine and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the hip, shoulder, elbow, and knee at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. At Kerlan-Jobe, Dr. Roth was an assistant team physician for many of the professional teams in Los Angeles including the Lakers, Sparks, Dodgers, Angels, Kings, and Ducks. During his fellowship, Dr. Roth also gained extensive experience in complex shoulder surgery. In addition to cutting-edge arthroscopic procedures, he performs total shoulder replacements, reverse total shoulder replacements, and other shoulder reconstructive surgeries. Dr. Roth enjoys treating patients of all ages and athletic abilities. He approaches every problem from a nonoperative perspective first. Often, he is able to create an individualized physical therapy program or perform pinpoint injections, including the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections used by so many professional athletes. Dr. Roth works closely with physical therapists, athletic trainers, chiropractors, physiatrists, rehabilitation medicine specialists, and primary care sports medicine providers to help each of his patients get fit, strong, and healthy faster. When he’s not treating patients in the office, Dr. Roth enjoys volunteering as a team physician for local high school and collegiate teams, as well as cycling, snowboarding, sailing, photography, and spending time with his wife and their young twins.
