Craig's Test

Plays: 179

Video Description

The clinician palpates the posterior aspect of the greater trochanter of the femur. The hip is then passively rotated internally and externally until the greater trochanter is parallel with the examining table or reaches its most lateral position.
The degree of anteversion can be assessed by measuring the angle of
internal rotation of the hip. 10-15 degrees of anterior torsion is normal.

Relevant Research

Inter-tester reliability coefficients were poor for femoral anteversion (0.45): http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16579850
