A Lachman Test is a physical exam maneuver used to diagnose an ACL tear.Technique: One hand secures and stabilizes the distal femur while the other firmly grasps the proximal tibia. A gentle anterior translation force is applied to the proximal tibia. A firm / solid or soft endpoint indicates the ACL is intact. Significant anterior translation as seen in this video suggest ACL deficiency.Lerat JL, Moyen BL, Cladière F, Besse JL, Abidi H. Knee instability after injury to the anterior cruciate ligament.
