2012 CRN - Acute Nerve Injury and Repair - PresentationPart 2 - Supercharge Nerve Transfers and Nerve Transfers in the HandPart 1 - Peripheral Nerve SurgeryPart 2 - Supercharge Nerve Transfers and Nerve Transfers in the Hand (this video)Authors: Susan E. Mackinnon MD, Andrew Yee BSDate of presentation: 5/2/2012This presentation is the second part of the topic on Acute Nerve Injury and Repair given for the 2012 Comprehensive Review of Neurosurgery video lectures. Specifically, this presentation reviews supercharge (reverse end-to-side) nerve transfers and available nerve transfers in the hand. Supercharge nerve transfers has been a recent development for improving recovery for 2nd/3rd degree nerve injuries without sacrificing the integrity of the target recipient nerve for reinnervation. Standard end-to-end nerve transfers are for complete 4th/5th degree nerve injuries and this presentation include discussion on motor and sensory nerve transfers in the hand.Table of Contents00:31 Introduction03:00 Utility of Supercharge (Reverse End-to-Side) Nerve Transfers11:09 Utility of Nerve Transfers12:02 Nerve Transfers in the Hand12:15 Nerve Transfers for Radial Nerve Reconstruction23:59 Nerve Transfers for Median Nerve Reconstruction24:04 Median Nerve - Nerve Transfers for Pronation25:32 Median Nerve - Nerve Transfers for Anterior Interosseous Nerve29:02 Brachialis to AIN Nerve Transfer for Spinal Cord Injury38:17 Median Nerve - Nerve Transfer for Flexor Pollicis Longus40:08 Median Nerve - Nerve Transfer for Thenar Function40:30 Nerve Transfers for Ulnar Nerve Reconstruction42:56 Sensory Nerve Transfers in the Hand43:00 Experimental Background for Sensory Nerve Transfers46:21 Sensory Nerve Transfers for C5,6 Palsy49:44 Nerve Transfers for Median Nerve Sensation52:55 Nerve Transfers for Ulnar Nerve Sensation55:53 Nerve Transfers for Radial Nerve Sensation
